No Price On Blood Please

DONORS at Newcastle's blood bank yesterday said the Government's decision was inappropriate and not in the community's interest.

Port Stephens resident Craig Murphy, who donates blood about every three months, said he had heard " a bit" about the plan and was against it.

"We donate our blood with the expectation that whoever needs it gets it, rather than it being about who pays for it," he said.

Cardiff resident Lance Jones said he would not be put off giving blood but others might be.

Mr Jones said he did not agree with public money propping up private institutions but believed no one should be charged for blood.
